Mrs. Hausman came to visit today and brought with her some great books about "Fall Things".

She read us the following stories...

In this silly story, Sam discovers all the leaves are falling off his beloved oak tree home.  He can't believe his little squirrel eyes!  With the help of his sister Sophie, Sam begins to try to put the colorful leaves back onto the tree.  He panics, but feels much better after his mother tells him all about autumn.

This story is a great example of how everyone has something to offer!  When one of Grandfather's turnips grows to such an enormous size, the whole family,  including the dog, cat, mouse, and others have to work together to pull it out.  It takes teamwork... I'll remind them of this story when we get to our Leadership Habit #6, Synergy!

Chicken wants Scarecrow's hat, Scarecrow wants a walking stick to rest his tired arms.  Chicken knows who has one, and start off on a fun filled day of bartering and trading.  Along the way she makes deals with Badger, Crow, Sheep, Owl and Donkey, each one needing something else that another animal has!

In this just-spooky-enough tale, there was a little old lady who was not afraid of anything!  But one autumn night, while walking in the woods, she hears ... clomp, clomp, shake, shake, clap, clap.  And the little old lady who was not afraid of anything has a little scare, but then, quickly, puts to good use the animated objects that were trying to frighten her.
