You may begin to hear a great deal of "math talk" from your kindergartener over the next few weeks. On Monday, we started a new math program called "Math Expressions" by Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt. It appears to be closely aligned with Common Core and, so far, the kids are really enjoying it. We received lots of new materials, including manipulatives, books, charts, etc. More information will be coming home shortly and I'll try to update our classroom blog with pics of the kids engaged in some of the activities. So... check back often 😊
Miss Katie came to visit again today. She talked to the children about building a healthy lunch by choosing and including food items from each of the food groups (protein, grains, fruit, vegetables, and dairy). She read them a story about foods from around the world and ended her session with sharing a healthy snack... a pumpkin-apple muffin. We are already looking forward to her next visit in February! |
